What role does fear play in your life?

Lęki - jak na d nimi zapanować i pozbyć się ich

What role does fear play in your life?

We often forget that the heart knows the truth.  “The heart is a temple where in all truth resides.” (George Burns)

Fear shows up in our lives when we let the mind dominate the heart.

Sometimes instead of listening to our hearts and surrendering to the love and light, we become a victim of the negativity in our minds. A mind is a powerful tool and how you use it affects your life.

As said by Yogi Bhajan, a master of kundalini yoga who introduced it to the United States, “The mind is given to us, we are not given to the mind.”

A mind is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master. Use your mind; don’t let it use you.

We often feel fear because of an experience in the past, possibly in our early childhood, that was somehow traumatic for us.

Those traumas are stored in our subconscious minds and they are triggered every time we are confronted with a similar situation.

How can we overcome fear?

The way to overcome it is to face it.

Often, we feel anxious or afraid but we do not understand what is causing these feelings.

Do you know what you are afraid of and why?

One common response is, “I’m afraid of performing in the front of people.”

Then it is time to explore why you feel afraid. You might remember a situation that happened to you in the distant past. Or, you might not remember how it started, but what you do know is that it makes you feel afraid, possibly of things such as embarrassment or failure.

Pause to reflect. Exactly what is telling you that something is dangerous? A voice in your mind? Yes, it is a negative thought/mindset.

We have beautiful minds that can make our life easier, and sometimes our minds produce negative thoughts. This can serve us by protecting us from real danger.

A negative mind is protective, keeping us from doing things that are potentially dangerous.

Past experiences can become traumas that remain in our subconscious minds.

A negative mind can interpret a current circumstance or situation as being potentially dangerous, and so every time you will have to speak in front of a group of people, for example, your negative mind tells you things like: “Something unwanted could happen.” or “Find a way to avoid this.” “Avoid or resist this.”

Actually, there is nothing to fear.

The negative mind is wasting energy in the form of worry.

Once you take the time to realise exactly what it is you fear, then that is already a victory.

Tell your mind, things like “It may seem dangerous, but I choose to face it now anyway.”

It is important to acknowledge our fears while facing them and to treat them correctly.

Don’t fight against your fears because that makes them grow even stronger.

Instead, acknowledge your fear. Speak to it and say, “I see you Fear, and it is fine that you showed up, but I am the driver, so you, Fear, have to sit in the back seat. I can listen to you sometimes, but you’re just along for the ride and I’m the one doing the driving.”

Learn to look at fear as a way of getting to know yourself better.

Tell yourself things like, “I am feeling the fear, so I can become aware of why I have this scary thought. Facing the fear makes me grow stronger, because now I am not reacting negatively to an old trigger. I choose to take action.”

Examining and addressing our fears is a way of learning more about ourselves. As Marilyn French put it:

Fear is a question.

What are you afraid of and why?

Our fears are a treasure house of self-knowledge if we explore them.

Surrender to your heart instead of to your mind and you will be free of fears.

You might still feel fear from time to time, but you face it and conquer it.

Remind yourself that love and light are what you choose to feel now.

Follow your heart and live in love.
